I don't have enough money for the book, but just got the FLAG CD, and I was wondering if my suspicions were true.

I know some plague rats have been complaining the songs are "out of order" according to the book. Is "Time For Tea" technically supposed to go between "The Key" and "Hell is Empty"? I figure this because "The Key" says...

"Then all at once the clock from fifty floors below is loudly striking four and suddenly I know"

...and then in "Time for Tea" at the beginning you hear a clock chime four times.

I know "Time for Tea" has to do with the Tea Party Massacre, which happens towards the end of the book, and the two songs are towards the end of the album so I think I'm right? LOL!

Yup, you are right. After The Key comes Time for Tea and then Hell is Empty (though, these two refer to more or less the same event from different perspectives). The rest of the songs in the album are not necessarily out of order, there's some that just speak of certain things in the asylum (or Emilie's life) in general terms and do not refer to any specific moment.

I'm disappointed, for, there is not a single song about crayons, either a box of them or a single red one.

That is very highly disapointing.

But, you are correct the songs are out of order. But, who knows her play shes working on could be rearranging some of the events.

I made this Approximate Track-List of how I feel the songs should be ordered

(Feel free to message me about any corrections/opinions)

^That is a very good more plausable list.

^But it doesn't make sense for Hell is Empty to be before The Key because the song refers to [Spoiler Warning]the scene where they kill Dr Stockhill.

And this is a bit more of my personal opinion, but I'd put What Will I Remember earlier in the list since it's basically Emilie contemplating suicide. Also, when putting this whole thing on stage, I'd like to have FLAG as the very first or second song, since it's like this whole musical's anthem and is not about an event in the book. Besides, when you are garnering tension for the long-awaited revenge FLAG would come in all poppy-sounding and completely fuck up the climax.

[Spoiler Warning... again]
Spoiler: show
Moreover, I'm not sure if G, SL is supposed to be about the inmates that died in battle and by hand of the doctors/chasers or about the moment the Asylum crumbles and they all jump.

Ok, I'll stop messing with your list [face_whistling].

To my mind, the album setlist order is correct if it is meant to be a flashback, as she said to Metal Discovery : "And then, of course, by the third song it’s taking you on a flashback of how this even started; how did this whole fucking mess start? How did both the modern, my own reality, and this parallel universe that happened at the time…"

@Darkblossoms : [Spoiler Warning]
Spoiler: show
G, SL is about when the inmates are having the Ball in the roof & it crumbles

^Thanks, I suppose it makes sense.

Holy cow, I just realised that the 4 o'clock reprise must be the "ohwearegoingonaflashback" moment in the musical. Me likes.
