I couldn't find a thread like this, but I apologize if there is already one. And I wasn't quite sure what section to put this in either.

Tell us the story of how you discovered EA, the song that got you hooked, etc.

Mine's pretty boring. I found her page on myspace, and of course my jaw dropped and I started drooling when I saw her picture xD
Then I found some EA muffin page on myspace which had 'Marry Me' up for download, so I downloaded it without listening first. Then I forgot about it.
A few weeks later I was sitting at the train station in the city and I put my iPod on shuffle. The first song that came up was 'Marry Me' and I thought it was the most beautiful song I'd ever heard. So as soon as I got home, I youtubed her and was so amazed at how unique her music style was. For some reason it felt like I'd heard her music before, then not heard it, and now was hearing it again, if that made any sense at all. It was like I found something that made me feel complete. Like the last piece of a jigsaw puzzle. And so of course I went to purchase all of her albums and have been addicted ever since.
The End.

Now it's your turn :)

Elf, you think your story is boring - mine's even worse.

I spent a weekend with my sister who wouldn't shut up about her, so I figured I should see what the fuss was about. Rapunzel was the first song I liked but Thank God I'm Pretty is what got me hooked. Brilliant lyrics and even better delivery of them.

@ Voodoochild - Hah, that's funny. Seeing as I was the one who got your sister hooked in the first place xD
So like, if it wasn't for me you wouldn't have heard of EA :P. Chain reaction...
Oh, and we have big plans to sneak into your luggage when you go to see EA, just so you know :P

@ fLee - Oops! Thank you for that. Hehe.

I believe there is already is a thread for this BUT since that thread is like 12 pages long or something I think a new thread is appropriate :p

I first found out about her when a friend of mine let me hear the song Chambermaid. I was all up in my the Cure music back then and considered the song to happy, too jazzy, too...I don't know. I still sometimes played it because I loved the intro. She showed me a picture of Emilie and she looked so typical to me, with striped stockings and all. Later, when my life was at the bottom, I was completely depressed and been let down by whom I considered to be the love of my life, I stumbled upon her music again. I was looking for a song by No Doubt, Marry Me, on YouTube. Instead, I found a fan-made video for the EA song. I recognised Emilie's name and got curious. 5 minutes later everything changed. I found the lyrics extremely smart and witty, and I loved the song overall and like a maniac I sent it to everyone I knew. Still, Marry Me is just ONE bit of Emilie's music...and then I discovered Opheliac. I was pretty much stunned. The harpsichord, the screaming...I never heard anything like it before. I was asking myself 'why am I listening to this?' I listened to it more and more and I found out that I kept listening to the song because the song was about me. Or atleast, that's how it felt. Emilie sung the words right out of my mouth. I have been a huge muffin of her since and went to all her gigs in my country except the Summer Darkness one :)

I love Emilie Autumn. I really do!

A friend told me about her, I didn't like her (at first!!). Then I was looking through various forums (moi dix mois/malice mizer etc.) and she just seemed to keep popping up so I gave her a chance and the rest is history...

I had bought "Asleep by Dawn Presents: DJ Ferret's Underground Club Mix #2," and the song "Shalott" was on it. I immediately fell in love with the song. Found her website, and have been hooked ever since...

My friend had me listen to some of her music, I fell in love with her voice and violin (particularly her violin). I then looked her up on Last.fm, and she is my top artist now (about 4 or 5 times more plays than #2 xD).

I think I originally found her in 2005 through a thread on an old forum I used to post on. I loved her pink hair and decided to check her out. I downloaded Enchant from the Enchant microsite, listened to it, and was kinda meh... towards it. I burned it to a cd and then forgot about it until at least a year later, about the time the Opheliac EP was released. I listened to Opheliac (the song) and was completely hooked. Been listening to her since.

I just remember seeing her on a few magazine covers after opheliac came out (and I thought she was very cute but I didnt really investigate further), and then her name started cropping up increasingly in conversations with strange people in bars. inally a friend bought the Liar/dead is the new alive ep, didnt like it, and gave it to me saying 'You like crazy girls and industrial music, so have this' and soon after I had to get opheliac and as soon as I heard swallow I declared my undying love for her :P

was online looking for referances for a comic.
i think the search parameters "goth babe" were thrown around.
got linked to a battered rose type site.
told my co-artist at the time.
"this chick is hot"
realized the page was playing music.
turned it up.
it was rose red.
i was hooked!

(please note the hotness was not a requirement for my fandom!)
