No abusive, obscene, vulgar, hateful, baiting, or threatening materials or posts.
Do not pick on other forum members for any reason. If you continuously disagree with a member, you can use the foe button - this will make their posts invisible to you.
Use common sense and best judgment when posting material.
If the material you post may be questionable or possibly offensive, ask a member of the moderator staff before posting.
No sexual content:
The Official Asylum Chat and Forum is owned by EA. If minors are exposed to sexual content through her forum it could have legal consequences for EA. Therefore, leave sexual content from the Official Asylum Forum and Chat.
Sexual content is considered (but not limited to):
- sex jokes
- talk about genitalia
- sexually explicit avatars
- sexist jokes
- use of violent sexual language
- Cybering (Definition Cybering: Cybersex, computer sex, internet sex or net sex is a virtual sex encounter in which two or more persons connected remotely via a computer network send one another sexually explicit messages describing a sexual experience.)
The Asylum is NOT an appropriate place to request medical, legal or other professional advice, including any kind of medical diagnosis or prognosis.
There is the real possibility of doing harm to other members by advising them on medical issues, either because the advice is dangerous or because it discourages them from seeing a medical professional. Answering or asking for general factual questions about medicine and medical conditions may be removed at the moderators' discretion.
Do not post any personal information such as name, address, age, etc.:
Posting of anyone's personal information, whether a member or not, will be removed and the poster may be warned or banned at the discretion of the moderators.
If you see others posting personal information, please alert them or use the report [!] button.
No posting or requesting of copyrighted material:
Posts and topics containing magazine scans, links to pirated music and other media, etc. will be removed. Posting links of wares for sale (eBay, your own site, Cafepress, etc.) is okay, as long as you are not selling copyrighted material or spamming people, and you are a legitimate member of the community.
No double posting
Double posting is defined as posting more than once in a row in the same topic so that your replies are directly together with no other posts between. Edit your post using the EDIT button if less than 24 hours old. For posts over 24 hours old, please ask moderator staff to make necessary additions or changes by using the report [!] button.
No cross-forum posting
Posting of the same topic in different sections of the forum.
Spamming is considered, but not limited to, very short posts that do not add value to the current discussion. In general, they serve no purpose other than upping one's post count. Spam posts will be deleted.
FORUM spamming examples:
- smilie-only response (no text)
- posts that contain large amounts of smileys
- excessive off topic posts
- excessive slow chatting
- bumping within a period of a few days
- short posts that only contain sentences like "yeah, me too"
- posts containing only/primarily links/quotes
CHAT spamming examples:
- posting of more than 10 lines at a time.
- posting of repeated smilies.
- posting of a link in public for every new member that enters the chat.
No yelling in CAPS
The more times something is quoted the more times the search function has to pull up the same words. It slows down the search and the back up.
- Do not quote the person that posted directly before you or the original post
- Keep quotes short -
Only quote passages that you are responding to, especially when responding to very long posts.
- Do not quote large groups of pictures.
If responding to a large group of pictures, just pick one or two or just mention which ones you are referring to, particularly if they are in the post directly before yours.
Use the search function
in order to prevent double posting, cross postings and to avoid opening a new thread on a topic which has already been discussed.
Properly descriptive topic title
This makes it easier for everyone to find what they are looking for. The mods do not have the time to read every topic and may move something based on the topic title if a mod comes across a topic and the purpose of it is unclear based on the topic title. Try to refrain from using topic titles like "Please help!" or "Have you heard of this?"; try to place the actual subject in the title.
Post new topics in the correct forum
Users repeatedly posting in the wrong forum may receive a warning.
