As some of her songs have a water theme, this could be a good look.

DRAMA from feathers ? WTF There is nothing wrong with feathers in her hair. EA is an entertainer with an open mind, she can wear anything she likes, that's why I started to like her last summer.
Vegan shmegan, it's not a Religion, and like any Religion, don't push it on anyone. For me, I like animals, they taste good, when cooked properly. HA!

People aren't saying "I'm vegan, so EA should only use animal parts through ethical means" they're saying "She's vegan... So how did she obtain the feathers?" EA has said several times that she's vegan, no one's "pushing" it on her; it's a decision that she made for herself.

That said, I think that if people want to get upset over feathers the time has come and gone. I'm under the impression that VeVa is vegetarian or vegan and she has been using feathers in her act for a good long while. EA probably obtained the feathers in an ethical way (birds loose feathers naturally or die of natural causes- there are ethical ways of getting feathers) and I don't think she imagined that it would cause enough drama to warrant an explanation.

And I don't think EA was thinking of Native Americans at all when she made her hair piece. It's a mohawk with feathers in it. People are wearing feathers in their hair on a daily basis these days. One of EA's friends related EA's wig to Native Americans... That doesn't mean it was EA's intent.

To me it looks like EA bought the headpiece from that site and added feathers to it , or, the site made it for EA per her specs.

I don't think she got it on her sight. Her wig looks more like she made it to copy the roman war helmets. Besides, she says that she makes everything herself and I have no reason to not believe her.

It looks more like the blue one in my first post, a page back. You can see the braid. It looks very hard to make yourself. She has money now, why not buy something nice, like the blonde headpiece ?

Windiscold, the hairpiece isn't available in platinum blonde. And though etsy people are very nice unless they say "contact me if you want a different colour" it probably isn't possible that EA got a platinum blonde wig from them.

BlondeSavior, I like that interpretation! Whereas I think people may be analyzing the mohawk too much and her reason for bringing it to the stage might simply be that mohawks are awesome, it's a neat way of seeing it.

OK, I don't want to have any drama on this, I'll drop it now.
I love her blonde headpiece, it gives her power over herself, she looks tough and she does fight like a girl. :)

You guys are analyzing this way too much. It's a deathhawk, and EA just wanted to add some feathers in it. She's always combined elements and eras, like punk with victorian (punktorian), and a deathhawk adds a nice contrast to the rest of her outfit.

I think it's great that people that likes feathers and wool, can still hold a vegan diet! I mean anything helps, there is not a rule saying "you have to be totally animal-product-free, and if you wear wool, you might as well eat meat".
And there are animal friendly ways to get both wool and feathers! :)

Good idea.
As for my choice of images, these girls could be Swedish or Ukrainian or Somalian for all I care ; they're still wearing feather headpieces as a fashion accessory and depriving them of their original sacred function (plus, I think I read in one of the links posted in this thread that the kind worn by the blonde one is traditionally only worn by men) - which is exactly what my post was about. For the record, my Google search was "hipster feather headdress", and they come from fashion blogs. "Aesthetics" - precisely.

@BlondeSavior : I second the Roman helmet reference!

@WindIsCold : About the picture of the headpiece you posted - has anyone ever seen EA wear blue? [face_thinking]

^ If you actually read that etsy listing, they are available in several colors, including pink. The listing simply shows an image of the headpiece in blue as an example...

^Oh, thank God! I thought that I was the only one that kept making Lisbeth and Emilie comparisons for a moment there. :) They seem so close in character sometimes.
