EA confession blog.... Thoughts?

Okay... So I stumbled across a blog of EA confessions recently. I won't post the link, and I'll get to why in a moment, but if you're really curious, all I'm saying is it's on Tumblr.
But I went to this blog because I'd seen pics with confessions like "I really love Emilie's hair" or "Her songs are so beautiful- they help me sleep at night". But I quickly realised these were only a few of the nice ones- about 90% of these confessions from so-called 'muffins' are bashing her non stop. I spent hours going through them tonight and had to stop because I'd started to cry real bad. My love for EA will never lessen but I can't help feeling differently now that I've seen these, they were THAT bad. Hence why I don't want to post the direct link for those of you who have not read them... But for those of you who DO know what I'm talking about, please tell me that I'm not alone in being appalled and heartbroken at this?
I mean it not only destroys Emilie's image, but some of them are about the BC's as well. When I think about how much fun I had at the show I saw, and how many times EA's music has held me back from suicide and how much I can relate to her like no other, it just shatters me to read such awful things these people say about her! :'(
Emilie is human, regardless of some of the things she's done or said... In my opinion, her only crime is making the best of a bad situation and some people don't like or can't relate to it, so they lash out. She's said before that she does this for herself. If she's doing what makes her happy, why is everyone giving her such a hard time? After reading this blog I feel ashamed to be part of the fanbase...

^This is something that has been going on for quite awhile.

The old blog caused a huge "battle" shall I say, months back. Since I'm always on tumblr, and I happened to be following the old blog, I saw the entire thing. I won't go into much detail since I don't want to get in trouble, but It started when somebody sent a message(I can't remember if it was anonymous or not) to the blog owner. I read the message when it was posted and basically freaked out because I was really worried.(The message was telling the blog owner about something that was supposedly going to happen the next day). As a matter of fact, I was the person that freaked out in the mini-chat on this site, telling people that this blog existed and what was going to happen. Now, of course, I realize that I should've just reported it, but obviously I didn't think of that. I could tell you lot more about what happened, and who was involved and how they acted and all that, but like I said, I don't want to get in trouble. But yeah, the main result was that the old blog was deleted, and the new blog was created by a different person.

The "old" blog has been "revamped" & reposting the old confessions.

I was following the first for some time & then unfollowed, the same happened to this one.

You can tell that even when some points are valid since it's an opinion some are only people outside the fandom & trolls. I think the first one was created in good faith but the "confesors" taking advantage of their anonymity start to submitting the first thing they had on their minds. People thinks that internet gives them superpowers when to my mind you should use the same manners than in real life: think before you speak (or in this case: write).

We're all entitled to have our own opinions but this is getting ridiculous & over the top.

Unfortunately, yes this is giving Emilie & even the PRs a bad name but, how can we do something if one dissapears and 2 or 3 more appear?

Generally this blog is for some of the past EA plague rats to have a little rant. Some of them are ridiculous, some of them are eye rolling worth and some are valid to be fair. I for one never saw the purpose of this blog. Honestly think people need to learn to move on and see there is more to your own personal life than to rant about an artist you decided you disliked now. The blog has been discussed to death until it has been reduced to dust that shall nurture the grass for the next horse to come along. People tend to think they are slammed for having opinions about EA and so they go to that blog to express them. Which explains why some are REALLY ridiculous. Take my advice and ignore it. No point in wasting time and energy over it. It doesn't mean anything anyway. Let people do what they think they have to do and enjoy listening to EA in peace.

I agree with Inmate, Troll Like A Girl is pretty funny without spreading around bullshit. It makes fun of the plague rats' attitudes to EA more often than not. :lol:

That blog is actually a very hateful one. I just can't believe people who hates Emilie waste their time bashing her. I don't go to websites, forums, etc... of artists I don't care about or that I don't like them at all. Also, 90% of the facts and hate stated in that blog are not true, people without knowledge about her are the one saying those things. To be honest, I have thought about creating a blog called Emilie Autumn facts in which people could ask me everything they don't know about EA and in which I can actually reply to hateful posts if they are not truthful. But I am lazy to do that. Oh, and yes, I know lots of true facts about Ea and I wouldn't invent anything. However, for all of you who wants to read funny stuff about EA without all the hating, I recommend the blog "Troll like a girl". It is not bashing EA, it is just trolling about her, with lots of hilarious gifts, etc... Go and check it out, you will laugh.

My point exactly.... There are celebs that I dislike and think very poorly of, but why waste my time insulting somebody that I don't even know and hurt them AND their muffins? I have no reason to be so cruel, so I just don't do it. It's amazing how much bile comes out of one's mouth when they're anonymous.

I haven't heard of this Troll Like A Girl blog. I'll go check it out!

I don't understand how it can be called a hateful blog.

It's just a confessions blog. Like the hundreds of other confession blogs on tumblr for just about every other band/artist/movie/book/video game/fandom ever.

Confessions get submitted by people, whether positive or negative, and the admins post them without bias regardless of their personal opinions in order to help people get things off their chests. A lot of people are afraid of the backlash that can come from saying anything negative about EA on the forum or other muffin places, but venting is healthy and the confessional helps fill that need.
If you don't think there are enough positive confessions, submit some, and they'll be posted too.
Or, if not, there's the Spreading a Plague of Love tumblr that is exclusively positive confessions.

(I also don't understand why people act like the vast majority of the confessions are negative. I don't follow the blog and I can't access it at this moment, but I have looked through it quite a few times and it seems more even- like 60% negative, 40% positive, which makes sense since when people have positive things to say they're more likely to just post it on their regular tumblrs with their names attached than submit it anonymously to a confession blog).

Honestly though, I don't think it should be discussed here. It exists away from the main fandom for a reason (namely, to avoid hurting anyone's feelings as best as possible without censoring the opinions of those who submit confessions), and I think EA's team and the people who run it would prefer it stay that way.

It would be great source for all of us that aren't very long into EA (two years is not very long, I believe...)

@Cupcake! : I don't consider it to be a hate blog. I consider the comments sent to it hateful. I know the administrators only post everything that is submitted to them and that they are not responsible for comments and such, therefore, I don't held responsible or guilty to the administrators at all. But there is indeed a lot of hate in the comments sent, at least lately, 90% of the comments are very hateful. And to be honest. I think there's a difference between saying "I don't like this song at all" and "I think this song is the worst crap of shit ever created and it's fucking horrible, EA should stop making music". Of course, for some people she should stop making music, for me, 99% of the today artists should stop making music but it is in the way they say things. I understand if people doesn't like a song but they should tell about it a different way, with an opinion instead of hate and again, if they hate EA, it doesn't make sense to waste their time on her.

@Ankh: Maybe someday... I really wanna do it but I don't know how to manage a blog or anything like that, I guess if I create the site or something then people submit their questions, opinions, etc... and I answer to them there? Let's see, I'm not good at it but would love to do it. To be honest, in this forum and some other sites I see so much misinformation when it comes to EA. Like a lot.

@Inmate, I agree, Troll Like A Girl is a pretty great blog, and I'll admit that I'm surprised that people take it so well, and I think that that's great! As for the comments, I'm confused as to whether you mean the comments, or the actual confessions. The comments are usually an attempt to correct a confession that was obviously sent by someone who had no idea what they were talking about, or is extremely closed-minded. Sometimes the comments will partially agree with the confession, but then defend against another part of the confession. Personally, I only reblog positive confessions which I agree with.

But yeah, I really don't understand why so many people take the time to submit so much hate!

See that's what bothers me so much. Why put so much time and energy into looking up the person you hate in the first place? Not only is it plain offensive and disrespectful to the person you're targeting but it's also upsetting to the people who actually like them.

I really don't understand where you're getting this number.
I just did some counting, and in the last 10 pages of the blog:

58 confessions were positive
31 were negative
8 were pretty much neutral

That's about 60% positive.
And only like 32% negative.

Yes, some of the negative ones were rather harsh, but there were almost twice as many positive ones to balance them out. And even among the negative confessions, a lot of them were just things like "She's pretty as a blonde but I think the colour makes her look washed out" or "I don't like [insert song here]" rather than anything really awful.

I got my numbers from the last time I visited the blog, it was maybe a couple of weeks ago... It was very bad. Yes, some of them are normal, just the "I don't like this and that" but the ones I read last time were practically all of them very, very hateful. I guess it depends on when you visit.
