A youtube friend favourited a couple of videos of her... that was almost 3 years ago. Then I inmediately fell in love with MLC :D. I'm still surprised her music was so accesible to me since I was rather young... but yep, it happened.

Actually, I discovered her in quite an odd way :P I was researching a play called "Wig Out" that was about two warring Drag Queen Houses, The House of Light (representing the "heroes"), and The House of Di'Abolique (representing....you guessed it, the "villains") Anywho, there was a scene where the two Houses had to show off of their lip-synching talents, and the head of the House of Di'Abolique performed "I Want My Innocence Back." I was immediately hooked and became obsessed with EA <3

I don't know how, but somehow I stumbled upon the "Gothic Lolita" lyrics page.
I became really intrigued, and after few tries I fell in love with Opheliac.

Did a search for harpsichord players. I found Tori Amos, I been a loving muffin for 10 years now, and I found Emilie Autumn. The clothes, the make-up, the violin. EA looked like no one I have ever seen or listened to, plus the songs from OphEliAc, then EnchAnt. EA is so brave to sing and write songs of her stay in an Asylum. I can't wait for what she will give us in the next few years and beyond.

I have a rather funny story on this matter. :) (Funny for me at least.) As many of you, I first discovered her on youtube, and after listening to Gothic Lolita (that was the first song I heard from her, and fell in love instantly) I clicked on Opheliac. That time I was a broke arts student and lived with my grandma in her old house, where I had an old computer with really ooold speakers, practically at the edge of death. And when Opheliac started and she got to the line „you might have seen the end but you were never able to keep me breathing as the water rises up again…” and her voice went all distorted, I completely freaked out and thought it was my speakers going finally nuts, and I was like jumping around and beating them to go back to normal. And it’s just so funny thinking back now that the first time I heard EA I thought she wrecked my sound system. :x Queen of rock.

^ :D My mobile used to listen to music doesn't work as it should but while listening "Opheliac" I know when it sounds... well, like "Opheliac". And when it's not ok. But I've been listening this song quite a long time :) .

I think my story is even worse, /:
I was at the doctors and there was a poster that basically said famous people battle depression too, or some shit. So I got home and googled 'famous people who self-harm' or something just to see if it was true, or just another marketing scheme to stop teenagers from doing radical things to themselves, and Emilie Autumn came up on the list, so I googled her story and youtubed her music and the first song I heard was one of her performances of misery loves company, and I fell in love. Now I basically have my life split between 'EA dedicated time' and 'other things'.
I think the moral of the story is I have too much spare time. haha

^ That's a pretty nice poster... Altough I am afraid that thanks to it, a lot people would feel inspired to self-harm instead of getting help.

The biggest "famous people have mental health problems but are still successful" fails i have ever seen was the inclusion of Kurt Cobain. Dude, the guy either killed himself or was murdered, that doesn't really inspire me to keep going.

^ WHAT. I can't believe this...
Thanks to drugs, the poor guy completely lost himself..
Not to mention all the teenagers killing themselves over him.

I actually have the wonders of Spotify to thank. I was searching for something new to listen to and was doing a random search of 'related artists'. The first track I heard was Opheliac, and the second I heard the Harpsichord start I knew I had found something different- fell in love from there :)

I thought I'd posted in this but don't see a post from me anywhere so...

Some random guy added me on MySpace years ago. EA was all over his profile and he had a playlist.com thing on there with some of her songs on there. Her strangeness immediately caught my attention so I listened to Gothic Lolita in his playlist and was instantly in love!
