If you want the front, grab the spot early. Go with friends, so you can come back when you take a restroom break :P

The problem with general admissions is it's usually every person for themselves. I tend to be in the front or near the front, because I try to get there early. Yeah, if I have a short person behind me I'll try not to block their view, like stand off to the side of them or if there's space, scoot over for them. Of course, depending on the stage positioning, if you're up front, then you may not be in their view (such as with elevated stages).

If you're short and you notice space in front of a tall person, ask them if you can stand in front of them so you can see, don't just barge through them.

God, I seriously hate it when people push to get a spot. I already deal with this kind of thing on the bus everyday and I have no problem pushing back. I'm a tall girl (5'8") So if someone is shorter and ask politely then I would try to move over at least. But if too many are trying to be in the front of me then that won't happen, especially if they are with friends or people who is not so short.I too have the right to a good spot if I arrive early.

There's a large difference between drinking and getting drunk.

Just sayin'.

That's why I wrote "get drunk".
But anyway, it is never fun to get a concert ruined by having to help a drunk friend who is not able to take care of her/himself.

My bad, I just saw the bit about drinking non-alcohols.

And no, it's not fun. ;)

I especially agree with the don't get drunk.
I'll give you a fresh example of gig behaviour gone wrong.

Yesterday I went to Nightwish's tour ending gig at Hartwall Arena. There were a lot of fanatic muffins from all over the world, and it was just huge. Well, the line up outside went pretty well, but the hell began when we were let inside. People dashed straight ahead despite the security guards yelling "Don't run!" Well, they slowed down for two secs, and started running then again, leaving us well behaving people behind. And we had to wait in another line before we got in to the actual hall. Well, people didn't care that there was a clear line, they pushed and walked straight to the front, ignoring the people yelling them to get to the end of the line, and not to go past us. They just didn't care. They wanted to get to the front, and nothing else mattered.

Another, even more shocking example from the same gig, that makes me say no to getting drunk before a gig:
When me and my sister had finally got in to the hall, and stood in the audience, this guy came there. His friend was obviously in the front row, and the friend tried to pull this guy there too. Well, he was crushing me in the process, and so my sister asked him to stop pushing and to stay where he is. Then this guy - obvioulsy drunk - started yelling at my sister, saying he would beat her up and rape her, and calling her a whore. Then he actually grabbed my sister's jacket and tried to hit him, when the security guards finally took him away. I have never been so afraid or so upset! We cried for minutes after that, and I was in such panic that I started hyperventilating. I can't believe that happened to us! And just because my sister was trying to stop him from hurting me and getting unfairly to the front!

No one wants - or deserves - to be treated like that!
It ruined the whole thing for me, and I'm still so shocked about it, that I can barely talk about it.
So please please please don't get drunk, because something like that can happen, and I don't want that to happen to anyone!

^ Wow that just fucking sucks, I'm sorry that happened to you and your sister. I know people (sometimes drunk or not) don't give a shit about those around them when they want a good spot. Not everyone is well behave and I know it's gonna be like that in an concert. If someone skips in like I swear I will trip that person before they can even get pass me.I can't tolerate shit like that because people just don't fucking listen

I hate to say this but I had a bad experience at a concert once so: If you have dandruff, don't headbang. It's gross for the people around you.

That made me laugh.

@stainless maid: Aww I really love Nightwish, sad to see your experience ruined by a bunch of assholes! How dare those drunk ever try to touch a girl! X( It pisses me off when people don't treat women with respect. Please tell me you contacted a security guard. :(

@ARTiCHOKE: If you're at a concert, there will be pot. Doesn't matter the artist, usually - I went to a friggin Alanis Morrisette concert in a theatre and someone was smoking pot.

Oh, if ANYONE messes with you during a concert, find a security guard! They will always be standing around.

Such a useful guide. A shame I couldn't have been given this information for my first concert. I came out of it looking part zombie-part homicidal maniac. I had bruises covering much of my torso and at one point even had some wench rake her nails down my back. Also because of my size (5'9" bare-footed and far from tiny) a group of short girls kept begging me throughout the whole concert to form some kind of human shield to prevent them from being trampled or knocked around.

Thank you terribly for posting this guide! It shall prove intensely useful if I am able to attend the Atlanta concert next month. <3 I sincerely hope I can; I have never attended an EA concert and would simply love the experience.

Thank you for posting that advice! I've been to an all ages EA concet before, and looking back on it, most of that info is true.

One question though. (Not sure where to post this, so I'm just going to go here)
This will be my first 19+ concert...It's an EA gig, so...I'm just wondering what I will be like. Is there a total different atmosphere change? I dont want to be surrounded by older, drunk people...Though that might not even be the case.

I just have no idea what to expect >.<

I love this advice, and some of it's even useful to me.

I'm a regular front-liner, and love being up against the stage. I've learned that shoes are most important. While canvas high-tops are pretty and light, they're very flimsy. And while my steel-toed boots are very sturdy, they kill my legs at the end of the day.

I don't know if the venues will be smoking or nonsmoking but the last concert I attended was in a place that allowed smoking. There were a few smokers who paid attention to where their cigarettes were but most didn't and I did get a few burn holes in my clothes. As they were older clothes I wasn't too concerned about it but I definitely didn't like the thought of having scars from burns on my skin. If smoking is allowed please pay attention and be respectful of those around you. I'm sure that most of us won't be pleased if our spiffy outfits are ruined.
