lol... I let my mom listen to my ipod one evening (she loves techie things) and she listened to the whole Opheliac CD(s) (double disk whoot)... she walked out and said she had listened to it... "so what'd you think?"... "well I like it... and she's one angry young woman *smiles*... EXTREMELY talented too"... I just smiled

I'm 33 so can I turn it around and say what my children think of EA.
well my 9 year old daughter adores her, my 3 year old dances along with a grin so I'm presuming she feels the same and my 7 month old son WILL love her :D
my partner hates her music, my mates hate it too, my dad laffs at it, and my mum shakes her head with a grin (I think she likes her)
my sis (who I dragged along to see her in sheff) is neither nor, she likes her but refuses cds of her (she did take the enchant one though) although she really enjoyed seeing her live and will be coming along with me to the next one.

Maybe they just pretend not liking her because they think it is awkward to suddenly like her after stating that they don't like her. But it's great that you can torture your partner with it, I mean your kids like it and you like it .. and he doesn't .. so listen to it all day because "your children like it" ..

How dark minded will they become??

Both of my parents like her 'Enchant' record, and my mother even asked me if I would like it if she came along to see Emilie in december

could she handle that?

My parents like her classical violin pieces. Nobody can blame them for that because they are really lovely. I'm not listening to The Mystery TRack 5 .. the prologue and I totally love it ..

you are extremely lucky with parents like that. Although I know more parents who like heavy and dark music. My parents don't. But they do have give me the credit that the lyrics that my music has are better than the R&B and HipHop or pop songs.

I would never call my mum a muffin, but she does quite like some of emilies stuff.

My stepdad just doesnt care. It's not for him but he doesnt mind. He listens to motorhead, rush, maiden, metallica, and the like.

But i really dont care.I listen to what i want to and they let me.

I think it's a breathe of fresh air for my mum too, because my main preference is black and death metal. (More so black metal)

...Well really its black metal, then industrial type music, then death metal, but you get the jist.

So far, I've only played select tracks of Unlaced and Enchant when my family is about. They seem to be ok with it. My mom actually enjoys a few of them. I have recently started strategically placing tracks from Opheliac amongst the mix. Hopefully there will be a day when I won't need to censor EA in my house.

Practically my parents are never at home, so, the music is at the top all the time =) They are indifferent to the music I listen, J-Music and Alternative music is common in my room, is normal to them...

Dear god, how I've wanted to tell my story! Well, the only things that I have exposed my mom to are the "Enchant" and "Laced" songs, which she likes fairly well. However, one day she came in while "Opheliac" was playing on my computer and told me, none too subtly, "I hate your music." And she also came in while I was listening to "Thank God I'm Pretty" and asked me what the hell I was listening to. She also has seen a girl with bright red hair in my presence, and has made it clear that she hates it. I dare not show her a picture of Emilie, for fear that I'll be forbidden to listen to it. My mother isn't the most supportive person, so I don't want to let her listen to anything of mine, because of her lovely habit of criticizing.
My dad, for some reason, hates everything I do but doesn't say it to my face. Dark make-up makes him pissed off, and so does striped stockings. Its odd to me... He's only heard "Shalott" but when I sung it to him, and he noted that it was the most depressing song he's ever heard. It was in good humor, though, because it was based off of a famous classical poem.
In short, I cannot let my parents listen to "Opheliac" at all, which troubles me for it is my favorite album. They tend to be very judgemental based on appearance and hate what they think is too hardcore. I can't even wear black nailpolish =/

Oh...my...god...twilight zone anyone? BOTH my parents are begging me to come along to see Emilie. My dad just got a glimpse of her on wikipedia and loved her in a second. My mother is doing ANYTHING to persuade my stepdad to buy her a ticket too.

I think I am one of the luckier few here when it comes to parents & Emilie :P

oh my dear you really are. I think my parents are a little afraid I'm getting too obsessed with her since all my money is funding her work.

They hear it all day but they my mother expecially things all her Opheliac songs are way to depressing and repetitive. My father hasn't really heard them but his opinions about most of my music is that it's to hard. But my mother loves that I listen to 80's pop music XD
